Abstract

O presente trabalho descreve os critérios de seleção de material bibliográfico diante dos diversos produtos oferecidos atualmente pelo mercado da informação.

Apresenta a problemática atual em relação à decisão de incluir um mesmo produto em formatos impressos, magnéticos e/ou eletrônicos no acervo de uma biblioteca, bem como sua avaliação, requisitos e custos associados à sua aquisição.

São apresentadas as diferentes fontes de informação em suportes magnéticos e eletrônicos utilizadas para auxiliar na seleção, aplicadas no sistema de bibliotecas da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Chile.
