Abstract

Objective. The study analyzes the usability of Scientific Journals Portal owned by Coordination of Personnel’s of Superior Level Improvement (CAPES), based in Nielsen’s usability attributes. It is characterized as a User’s Study in the extent of Information Science, in dialogue with Usability Studies. Method. This descriptive research uses the direct method, under qualitative methodological approach with quantitative contribution. The studied sample is composed by permanent faculty of Post Graduate Program in Health Sciences of Federal University of Paraíba. Data were collected using bibliographical and documental research, questionnaire, and interview. This is a descriptive study for categories. Results. Regarding to the quality of use, the usability attributes analyzed are qualified in levels above the average, considered good, except for the Tax of mistakes that presented regular level. Conclusions. This study of usability testing on CAPES Scientific Journals Portal is an important institutional evaluation tool on to the use of this information system.

Luciana Ferreira da Costa

Bacharela em Biblioteconomia (2002) e Mestra em Ciência da Informação (2008) pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Professora Assistente do Departamento de Ciência da Informação da Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Participa do Grupo de Pesquisa Web, Representação do Conhecimento e Ontologias e do Grupo de Pesquisa Leitura, Organização, Representação, Produção e Uso da Informação, ambos da Universidade Federal da Paraíba. Desenvolve pesquisa acerca dos Estudos Híbridos de Uso da Informação na perspectiva da Interação Homem-Computador (IHC). Recebeu o Prêmio Nacional de Dissertação em Ciência da Informação - 1º lugar - pela Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação (ANCIB) no ano de 2009. É membro da Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC). É Editora do periódico Perspectivas em Gestão & Conhecimento e revisora dos periódicos Encontros Bibli, Revista Interamericana de Bibliotecología, Ponto de Acesso, Revista ACB e Biblionline. É membro do Comitê Editorial da Revista Iberoamericana de Turismo e consultora parecerista da Editora da Universidade Federal de Rondônia. Áreas de atuação: Estudo de usuários, design centrado no usuário, usabilidade, arquitetura da informação, acessibilidade, produção e comunicação científica, periódicos científicos e movimento de acesso aberto.

Francisca Arruda Ramalho

Possui Licenciatura em Francês (1971), Bacharelado em Biblioteconomia (1975) e Especialização em Sistemas de Bibliotecas Públicas (1978) pela Universidade Federal da Paraíba, Mestrado em Administração de Bibliotecas (1982) pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais e Doutorado em Ciências da Informação (1992) pela Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Espanha. Atualmente, é professora Associada do Departamento de Ciência da informação da Universidade Federal da Paraíba, atuando nos Cursos de Graduação em Biblioteconomia e em Arquivologia e no Programa de Pós-Graduação em CIiência da Informação. Tem experiência na área de Biblioteconomia e Ciência da Informação, trabalhando como docente, pesquisadora e orientadora, principalmente, nos seguintes temas: Estudo de Usuários, Usabilidade, Produção e Comunicação Científica e Metodologia do Trabalho Científico. Foi condecorada Bibliotecária do Ano de 2007 pela Associação de Bibliotecários da Paraíba e orientou a dissertação de mestrado que recebeu o Prêmio Nacional de Teses e Dissertação em Ciência da Informação - 1º lugar - pela Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Informação (Ancib) no ano de 2009. É Editora da Revista Biblionline, é membro da Comissão Editorial das revistas Informação & Sociedade: Estudos e Biblione, e ainda é revisora das revistas Encontros Bibli, Informação & Informação, Ciência da Informação, Revista Eletrônica de Biblioteconomia.
