Sobre las bibliotecas, los bibliotecarios y la globalización

La globalización es un fenómeno que ha afectado a todos los estamentos de la sociedad desde aproximadamente 1870. Las nuevas tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC) han potenciado su expansión, y actualmente abarca a todas las áreas de desarrollo. Las bibliotecas, como instituciones y los bibliotecarios como profesionales también se ven influenciados por este proceso que los obliga a cambiar el modo de ejercer la profesión y de brindar servicios a su comunidad de usuarios presenciales y virtuales.
