Abstract

Asian Information Portal of the University of Pittsburgh is an innovative service for cooperation between U.S. libraries and libraries in China, Japan and Korea, which provides quick access to articles published in scholarly journals, using low-cost technology.

Author Biography

Martha E. Mantilla, Grupo Biblios

Ph.D in Administrative and Policy Studies in Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She has a Masters in Library and Information Sciences. She is the Librarian for Latin American Studies and Eduardo Lozano Collection. Martha is a Related Faculty of the Center for Latin American Studies of the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Coeditor of the BOLIVIAN STUDIES JOURNAL: an international and peer-reviewed electronic publication of the University of Pittsburgh University Library System and the University of Pittsburgh Press. She is in the BIBLIOS Editorial Board and is an Advisory Board Member for Greenwood Publishing Group Latino American Experience Database. She has published journal articles and book chapters in the field of Education. Martha is co-organizer of the Pitt’s Latin American Film Series. In June, 2011 Martha became the Vice-President of the Seminar on Acquisitions of Latin American Materials – SALALM and will assume the Presidency of SALALAM in June, 2012. She is a member of the Advisory Board of the Gamma Idear Foundation, Bogotá Colombia, a non-profit organization working on non-violence, conflict resolution and education for peace. For fifteen years, (1995 – 2010) she was the Host of BARRIO LATINO a weekly radio program broadcast in Spanish in WRCT88.3FM.
