Objetive. The article presents an analysis of the evaluation of scientific production and the indicators that measure it. Subsequently, a metric is presented that quantitatively models the scientific production indicators used in Cuban universities as an additive function based on the time researchers spend.
Method. Finally, the metric is partially applied at the University of Matanzas and the data obtained is analyzed.
Results. The results make it possible to differentiate qualitatively and quantitatively the researchers of this university based on their research results in the official document of the university.
Conclusions. The metric constitutes a tool for decision-making regarding the organization of human resources that the university possesses based on research.
