Objective. Present an overview of Brazilian and international scientific production on “inclusive libraries”, countries that produce the most on the topic, first articles, research questions and the impact of institutional and government policies on diversity and inclusion in libraries and the training of librarian professionals. Method. The study is exploratory, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, based on a bibliometric study and content analysis of articles retrieved from the databases: Web of Science (WoS), Scopus, Dimensions, OpenAlex, Lens and BRAPCI and aims to answer the question: Is it possible to affirm the emergence of a knowledge area domain within Information Science? Results. Data obtained shows researchers' interest in going beyond the concept of inclusion aimed at PwD-people with disabilities, incorporating concepts of diversity, equity, justice, social inclusion and accessibility, focusing both on the user and on the development, organization and treatment of the collection, in the training and training of librarians, in the provision of services and product offerings, as well as in the representation of diversity in professional teams. Conclusion. Results point to the configuration of a specific knowledge domain on the topic within Information Science and the importance of updating training curricula for information professionals.
