Abstract

O conceito, o papel e a importância da biblioteca escolar nos últimos vinte anos têm evoluído sob a influência das novas correntes pedagógicas e dos avanços da ciência e da tecnologia, fatores que permitiram reavaliar sua atuação e influência no campo da educação. A evolução da biblioteca escolar, de seu conceito e imagem tradicionais para um centro de recursos, deve-se às mudanças ocorridas na educação sob a influência da revolução científico-tecnológica e ao auge da abordagem curricular centrada na aprendizagem.

Consideramos que todo sistema educacional que se pretenda moderno e inovador contempla e atribui um papel preponderante à biblioteca escolar, ainda mais se esta conseguir se transformar em um centro de recursos multimídia.
