Explorando a produção científica na Faixa de Gaza

Resumo

Objetivo. Este estudo examina a produção académica de investigadores da Faixa de Gaza. Método. Foram analisados dados da base de dados Scopus, que revelaram 4.076 documentos escritos por investigadores sediados em Gaza até fevereiro de 2024. A análise bibliométrica foi realizada utilizando SciVal e VOSviewer. Resultados. A produção científica de Gaza cresceu significativamente, ultrapassando 400 publicações anuais em 2022 e 2023. A análise de citações indica uma maior visibilidade global. As principais áreas de investigação incluem Medicina, Engenharia, Ciência de Materiais e Física. Instituições como a Universidade Islâmica de Gaza e a Universidade Al-Azhar de Gaza fizeram contribuições substanciais, apesar do cerco imposto por Israel. Autores prolíficos e colaborações internacionais contribuíram para o crescente impacto da investigação em Gaza. No entanto, as limitações das redes académicas locais, devido a restrições externas, são evidentes nos scores FWCI mais baixos para colaborações nacionais. Conclusões. Este estudo destaca a resiliência da comunidade académica de Gaza e sublinha a importância de apoiar e reconhecer as contribuições académicas da região.
