Section Editors (4 positions) – Manage articles, select reviewers, and oversee the peer review process.
Academic Integrity and Quality Editor (1 position) – Checks for plagiarism and identifies AI-generated references.
Layout and Publication Team (2 positions) – Formats articles and updates metadata in OJS.
Statistical and Methodological Reviewer (2 positions) – Ensures the adequacy of statistical and methodological analyses.
Indexing Specialist (1 position) – Updates and manages indexing databases to enhance the journal’s visibility.
Communication Team (1 position) – Manages social media, events, and multimedia content production.
General Requirements:
- Experience in the relevant field.
- Knowledge of OJS and best editorial practices.

General Description of Responsibilities Editor-in-Chief (1 position)
- Supports Executive Editors in journal management and editorial workflow organization.
- Oversees coordination among the executing teams (editorial flow, technical, and communication).
- Substitutes for Executive Editors in case of absence or overload.
- Performs the final article check, ensuring metadata updates and PDF upload to the system.
- Notifies the University of Pittsburgh that the article is ready for publication.
- Requests support from the University of Pittsburgh for any issues with OJS.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in editorial management or scientific journals.
- Knowledge of peer review best practices and publication ethics.
- Experience with Open Journal Systems (OJS).
- Strong organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
Availability of at least 8 hours per week.
Executive Editors (3 positions)- Perform article check reviews and decide whether an article should proceed to evaluation.
- Make strategic decisions and organize the editorial workflow.
- Supervise deadlines and the work of Section Editors.
- Solve problems and ensure editorial process quality.
- Represent the journal before institutions and indexing bodies.
Availability: 6 hours per week.
Section Editors (4 positions)- Manage articles within their thematic areas.
- Select reviewers and oversee the peer review process.
- Maintain contact with authors to ensure necessary adjustments and improvements.
- Ensure articles meet journal standards before formatting.
- Experience with OJS is required.
Availability: 8 hours per week.
Academic Integrity and Quality Editor (1 position)- Checks for plagiarism.
- Identifies AI-generated references (“Frankenstein” citations).
Availability: 6 hours per week.
Layout and Publication Team (2 positions)- Formats articles according to journal guidelines.
- Prepares final layouts and converts articles into different formats (PDF, HTML).
- Updates metadata in OJS.
- Ensures the final version is correctly published on the platform.
- A background in Library Science (completed or in progress) is preferred.
Availability: 8 hours per week.
Indexing Specialist (1 position)- Updates the journal’s indexing data.
- Prepares indexing requests for databases, directories, and other information sources.
- Monitors indexing requirements and proposes improvements to enhance visibility.
Availability: 5 hours per week.
Communication Team (1 position)- Edits images, audio, and video to support communication efforts.
- Assists in managing the journal’s social media, events, and online meetings.
- Prior experience is required. A degree in Communication Studies is preferred but not mandatory.
Availability: 5 hours per week.
Statistical and Methodological Reviewer (2 positions) General Description:- Evaluates the appropriateness of statistical methods used in submitted articles.
- Verifies that presented data are correct and well-described, ensuring transparency and reproducibility.
- Identifies potential errors in the interpretation of statistical results.
- Assists Section Editors in assessing methodological quality.
- Provides suggestions for improving data analysis and presentation when necessary.
Availability: 4 hours per week.
Desired Profile:- Training or experience in applied statistics, research methodology, or related fields.
- Familiarity with statistical software (SPSS, R, Python, Stata, etc.).
- Ability to evaluate statistical models, hypothesis testing, and statistical inference.

Weeks 1-3 – Call for Applications (March 15-29)
- Applications via Google Forms in Spanish and Portuguese.
Week 4 – Candidate Screening (April 1)
- Candidate profile analysis based on role requirements.
- Preliminary selection of candidates for interviews.
Week 5 – Interviews and Final Evaluation (April 8)
- Interviews with pre-selected candidates.
- Selection of successful candidates for each role.
Week 5 – Results Announcement (April 10)
- Notification of selected candidates.
- Public announcement of the new editorial team members.
Week 7 – Onboarding (April 15)
- Welcome meeting with new editors and the journal’s team.
- General training based on workgroups.
