Objetive. To approach ethnography as a methodological possibility for Information Science. Methodology. Includes review article based on exploratory and bibliographic research. Results. It points out the need of Information Science to insert the individual as the axis of the informational problem, emphasizing the importance of conducting research based on qualitative approaches as a process by which the area can expand its scope of research. In this sense, the ethnography contributes with a perspective that demands of Information Science the concern in highlighting the ordinary experience of the individuals, paying attention to the senses that the individuals attribute to their actions of information. Conclusions. Using ethnography, Information Science can capture the active role of the individual in being or being informed, thus conceiving information as a phenomenon directly related to society and the culture in which it is generated, received, appropriated and disseminated.References
