This article aims to map the scientific literature on innovation in information services, focusing on libraries, taking into account the importance of the issue in the context of innovation. This study uses as a method to bibliometric analysis related to items such as publications, publication of periodicals, quotes, among others, with searches on data base Web of Science. Regarding the survey results it can be seen that the journals that publish more on innovation in information services are respectively Library Journal, College & Research Libraries Journal of Academic Librarianship. It is noteworthy that the ten most cited articles, most, eight articles these are exploratory studies and two articles these are theoretical studies. And six of these were invested in university libraries. Among the topics analysis contexts we stand out studies on structural variables of libraries for innovation, economic environment, leadership profile, ability to take risks, ICTs as facilitators of innovation, best practices for innovation and the importance of diffusion of innovation in libraries. As final considerations can be seen that each study examines an aspect of innovation, and none of the studies can alone provide a definitive direction on how to improve innovation in information services. However, together, these studies can provide guidelines for creating or restructuring of an innovative information service.References
